On the 5th June, we welcomed our customers from across the country to The Royal Institution in London for our inaugural Quality Excellence Event.

On behalf of the entire Tendable team, we would like to extend our thanks to all those who attended our Quality Excellence Event. Your presence and participation were integral, and we sincerely appreciate the time you took to join us.

It was great to see such a broad group of health-care leaders dedicated to enhancing quality in health-care. The insights and engagement during the discussions highlighted the collective commitment to achieving excellent care quality standards across our organisations.

When it comes to building an effective quality audit programme, it is crucial for any organisation to ensure quality and mitigate risks.

We've outlined the key aspects of such a programme, as well as the key challenges within quality from the Tendable perspective.

Audit Programme Fundamentals

There are five key questions to ask yourself to inform your quality programme. What, who, where, when and why. Using this framework you can ensure your quality audit programme meets the core fundamentals of an effective process.

Ask yourself:

Implementing a robust audit fundamentals programme is critical for mitigating risks and ensuring the quality and reliability of organisational operations. Engaging the right stakeholders, conducting audits throughout the organisation, capturing data timely, and emphasising the importance of quality data are key to a successful audit programme.

Key challenges in Quality: the Tendable perspective

1. Limitation of Resources

In the healthcare industry, one of the most significant challenges is the limitation of resources, particularly clinical time. This constraint necessitates that staff time should be used in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Hence why it is important to create an effective quality audit programme that can address this issue and ensure optimal use of limited resources.

2. Organisation of Data

Health and social care professionals often face demanding schedules such as balancing patient care, administrative duties, and continuous professional development. It is crucial to design audit programmes that do not add undue burden but instead streamlines processes and enhances efficiency through the organisation of data.

3. Front-line involvement

The key to achieving excellence within your front-line teams is to involve your front-line teams, which can often be the biggest downfall for any organisation. Ensure that you receive a collective buy-in before you empower your staff on a quality system. This makes it easier to set standard audit practices and train your front-line teams to conduct audits digitally, so they can maximise time spent on patient care.

4. Bringing Data Together:

Another challenge, in the quest for excellence in healthcare, is aligning multiple data sources to assess your quality. The power of a comprehensive overview of quality within an organisation allows you to identify key risks quickly, enhance decision-making and create a holistic view of quality.

5. Sharing Learning Rapidly:

Across your organisation, it's important that learnings are shared and data flows efficiently so that your central management teams can support you in your quality audit process.
